It's here: electronic shelf labels (ESL) are now rolled out on MonCasierFrais's food lockers! Precise and user-friendly, they make life easier for you and your customers. What's their role, and how exactly do they work? That's what we'll cover in this article.
What's the role of electronic shelf labels on food lockers?
The electronic shelf labels fitted to our food lockers serve several purposes. Just like paper labels, they display the key information for each locker:
- The price (per kg, per unit).
- The quantity available (by weight, in bundles, per unit, etc.).
- The best-before date.
- The product's origin (producer, geographic area).
At a glance, our electronic shelf labels give you all the information you need to restock your chilled lockers. Your customers, meanwhile, see all the data that helps them make their choice.
The advantage over paper labels? The time saved is considerable, and human error is eliminated.

How do electronic shelf labels work on food lockers?
👉 Want to know more about how our electronic shelf labels work?
👉 Are you a client of MonCasierFrais wanting to know how the electronic labels work on your food/chilled lockers?
In fact, we've simplified their use as much as possible for the two key stages of using food lockers: restocking and selling, thanks to a dedicated cloud system handling both operations.
When restocking our lockers
You arrive in the morning to fill the empty lockers with your products. How does the ESL update when you restock the chilled lockers?
The self-ordering kiosk automatically detects when the relevant lockers have been restocked. It sends this information to our cloud, which responds by sending the necessary details back to the same kiosk. This automatically updates the price and other information on the digital label. You don't need to do anything yourself.
When a customer takes the contents of a locker

The contents of one of your lockers have just been bought by a customer. So how does MonCasierFrais's electronic label respond?
For convenience, we've also automated the update to the LCD display on the relevant label. The self-ordering kiosk instructs the label, via a Bluetooth connection, to display “empty locker”. Again, there's nothing for you to do. Everything happens automatically, and thanks to our app, you instantly know which lockers need restocking.

What are the benefits of electronic shelf labels on chilled lockers?
As well as modernising your Click & Collect space, electronic shelf labels on food lockers bring real benefits for both the seller and their customers.
Benefits for you, the seller
You might think the benefits of electronic labels only apply to the buyer reading them. But that would be a mistake! In fact, you get several advantages too:
- You no longer spend time changing the label on each locker.
- Human errors, once common with manual labelling, are now a thing of the past.
- You save valuable time when restocking empty lockers; you just need to read the label to know what should go in it.
- Your installation immediately looks more professional.
Benefits for your customers

For the buyer, who wants to quickly find the product they need, adding electronic labels to food lockers brings several benefits:
- They can quickly see all the information they need: price, quantity, product type, availability.
- They get reliable information, with no errors, since it always matches the data on the self-ordering kiosk.
- They can spot discounted products at a glance thanks to a red marker shown on the electronic label's screen (a feature being rolled out during November).
- Their user experience is greatly improved thanks to this simplified setup. Ultimately, customer satisfaction improves thanks to the addition of electronic shelf labels.
In summary
In short, electronic shelf labels are revolutionising the management of food and chilled lockers. First of all, they simplify your work as a seller by reducing restocking errors. They also save you valuable time compared with manual labelling. For your customers, these electronic labels guarantee fast, reliable access to product information. This improves their shopping and user experience. By adopting this practical technology, you not only modernise your Click & Collect spaces, but also gain in efficiency and customer satisfaction.
